Top 7 Alternatives to ChatGPT in the AI Chatbot Market

  • ChatGPT is a popular AI chatting bot developed by OpenAI.
  • Several other platforms also compete with ChatGPT to dominate the AI market.

Unless you are a prehistoric person hunting animals for survival and living in a cave, you must have heard of or even used ChatGPT. The servers of Open AI, the company behind designing the bot, were flooded with users after they realised its potential. The bot was launched in November 2022 and responds to user prompts.

The bot instantly gained attention and popularity because of its easy user interface and crystal-clear replies. It was popularly used by students for solving homework, writing letters, finding answers to queries, and much more. “ChatGPT it” became a common phrase among internet users, similar to how “google it” is widely used today.

However, ChatGPT was neither the first nor the only AI assistant in the market. There are still several alternatives available for people today, which include some made for general purposes, while others are developed for specific purposes. Let’s look at some of the alternatives to chatGPT in the market that provide strong competition to the platform.

Other than ChatGPT

ChatSonic

The conversational chatbot is based on the latest GPT-4 model. The AI bot uses machine learning (ML) and natural language processing (NLP) techniques to generate texts and images. It has integrated with Google to provide the latest information and produce plagiarism-free content. It was built to overcome the limitations of chatGPT.

Jasper AI

The AI writing tool was developed especially for businesses and runs on the GPT 3.5 language. Businesses can use Jasper AI to create their brand voice and post content that sounds identical in style and tone, aligning with the company’s visions. As the bot has access to the company’s details such as its history, products, sales records, and others, the content produced can be published without heavy editing. The tool can also be accessed through a Chrome extension, making replying to emails and posting blog posts easier than ever.

GitHub Copilot

The platform helps individuals and businesses use AI assistance while coding. It works as a pair programmer, offering suggestions as the developer codes. These suggestions can be prompted using code or just simple language. It runs on the Codex model developed by OpenAI. The platform supports all the languages present in public repositories; however, the amount and quality of suggestions depend on the popularity of the language. Copilot has more training data for popular languages and provides better suggestions for them. It can be accessed as an extension on Visual Studio Code, Vim, Visual Studio, and Neovim platforms.

Google Bard

The platform was developed by Google and is the tech giant’s step into the AI chatbot sector. The AI chat service is based on the Language Model for Dialogue Applications (LaMDA) and uses Google’s own PaLM model. Bard sources its knowledge from the web. The platform was released on a rollout basis for UK and US customers and soon for everyone. Google is developing it to support more than 40 languages.

BingAI

BingAI is the AI chatting platform developed by Microsoft using the GPT4 model. Using BingAI is different from other chatbots which just provide short and crispy answers. Instead, BingAI provides detailed answers with footnotes having links to the sources. The bot can also perform artistic tasks like writing songs and poems with a given word.

You.com

The platform was founded by Richard Socher and Bryan McCann and is more user and privacy centred. The platform allows users to control what they see and protect their privacy. Users can also get codes to copy and paste through your.code, which presents the results after going through more than 20 source codes.

Perplexity AI

The platform was launched as a direct competitor to chatGPT and stands out for its ability to provide quality results. These results are often cited with their sources from the web. The platform presents information uniquely and does not rely on just copy-paste.

Final Thoughts

With AI becoming a hot topic in recent days and its integration and application into Web3, new platforms are continuously coming up to raise the bar and dominate the market. The future of platforms strongly depends on the regulations made around AI to use them ethically.
