Impermanent loss explained, with numbers
A worked example of what happens to a liquidity position when prices diverge, why the name is misleading, and when fees actually…

Descriptive statistics · last 30 days
These describe what the price has already done. They are arithmetic on real daily closes — not signals, not a forecast, and not a view on whether this asset is worth owning.
What these numbers cannot tell you
High volatility does not mean a price will keep moving, and sitting near a 30-day low does not make something cheap. Volatility measures how much a price has jumped around. It says nothing about whether the asset is sound, who controls it, or whether the project still exists next year.

difference over 30 days
Over the last 30 days USDC moved +0.02% while Bitcoin moved +1.95%. Most coins follow Bitcoin closely, so a gap is usually the more interesting number — though it says nothing about which direction either will go next.
Why turnover matters more than it looks
Turnover in this range generally means you can buy and sell without moving the price much. That is a statement about the market, not about whether the asset is any good.
03
How far underwater it has been · last 90 days
A price chart that ends higher hides how it got there. This shows the distance below the highest point reached so far — which is what someone who bought at the wrong moment actually experienced.

On diversification
At -0.26, USDC has largely moved on its own over this window. That can change quickly: in a broad sell-off, correlations across crypto tend to rise toward 1 at exactly the moment diversification would have helped.
One exchange, not the whole market — the shape is what matters, not the absolute height. Spikes usually mark news, a listing, or a liquidation cascade.
| Month | Change | Shape |
|---|---|---|
| Aug 2026 | -0.01% | |
| Jul 2026 | +0.01% | |
| Jun 2026 | +0.02% | |
| May 2026 | +0.09% |

04
How many exist, and how many can
USDC has no fixed maximum supply. 73.98B USDC are currently in circulation, and more can be issued under the project's own rules. That is not automatically bad, but it does mean scarcity here is a policy choice rather than a guarantee.
05
USDC ↔ USD
Uses the price above. An exchange will quote something different once spread, fees and withdrawal costs are applied — the gap is usually wider than people expect.
06
Context the numbers do not give you
We have written about this one
Our explainer covers what USD Coin is for, how it works, and the risks that come with it — before any of the numbers above matter.
This is a stablecoin
It aims to hold a fixed value rather than appreciate. "Stable" describes the target, not a guarantee — several stablecoins have broken their peg permanently. What matters is what backs it and who can redeem it.
Before you act on any of this
Crypto prices move sharply and can go to zero. Nothing on this page is advice, a recommendation or a forecast — it is public market data with context. Coinculb earns no commission on anything mentioned here.
