Staking and compounding
Yields are quoted in the token you are paid in. That is the whole catch: a 12% APY is worth nothing if the token loses 40% while you are locked in. The break-even line below is the number that actually matters.
What this calculator ignores
- An advertised APY is variable and can be cut without notice. Treat it as an estimate, never a rate.
- Lock-up and unbonding periods mean you may be unable to sell during exactly the fall you would want to sell into.
- Ignores slashing, protocol failure and custodian failure, all of which have cost people their whole stake.
- This is arithmetic on the numbers you typed. It is not advice, and it does not know your circumstances.
Other calculators
- Crypto converter Convert any tracked coin to US dollars, and back, at the current price.
- Profit and loss What a position actually returned once you account for the fees on both sides.
- Return on investment Total and annualised return, so results over different time spans can be compared.
- Dollar-cost averaging back-test What buying a fixed amount on a schedule would actually have produced, using real past prices.
- Position size How large a position can be before a stop-out costs more than you decided to risk.
